In this lesson, “Telling Your Story – A Story of Hope,” students harness narrative writing to craft a hopeful tale about their chosen Antarctic animal. Prioritizing creative design, they’ll use a provided template to structure their story and then illustrate it, paying attention to intricate details.
The activity emphasizes the purpose: by sharing their finished stories in the Upschool library, students raise awareness about Antarctic conservation, fostering optimism and knowledge about the region’s endangered ecosystem.
To complete this course and receive your certificate, we are asking you to chose your favourite animal from Antarctica and tell their story.
The animals here are struggling to survive but this is going to be a story of hope. A story with a happy ending.
Once you have chosen your favourite animal, it is time to get started by following the instructions below:
Step 1: Download the template document and follow the instructions on each page.
Step 2: Think of some ideas for your story. Remember it’s a story of hope!!
Step 3: Start writing your manuscript by following the prompts on each page to help you.
Step 4: Illustrate your book, making sure to add small details, shadows and keep everything inside the safe zone!
Step 5: Once your book is complete, share your story with the world by clicking the button below and uploading it to the Upschool library.
Once your book is uploaded it will allow others to learn about Antarctica and believe that there is still a chance to save it.
