Why Choose This Course?
Join us on an Antarctic adventure! We’ll begin with a video showcasing the macaroni penguins and albatrosses in their natural habitat, focusing on their distinctive movements and behaviours. Students will then dive into hands-on activities, starting with sketching a magnificent albatross in flight. Using shading and line techniques, they’ll capture the elegance of this bird as it soars through the sky.
Next, students will craft their own macaroni penguin finger puppets using simple materials like paper, markers, and fabric. Once the puppets are complete, the class will come together to put on a puppet show, sharing their artistic creations and newfound knowledge with younger children. This combination of sketching and puppet-making blends art with storytelling, helping students develop both their drawing skills and their ability to create engaging performances.
Learning Goals
Artistic Techniques: Students will learn how to sketch an albatross in flight, focusing on movement, shading, and composition. They will also explore texture and form as they create 3D macaroni penguin puppets.
Storytelling: Through their puppets and albatross sketches, students will learn how to tell stories of nature and resilience, bringing their subjects to life with both drawings and performance.
Collaboration and Performance: The puppet show will give students the opportunity to work together, exchanging ideas, developing scripts, and performing for their peers.
Creative Problem-Solving: Students will face artistic challenges, such as accurately depicting the flight of an albatross or crafting a puppet that captures the unique movements of a penguin.
Personal Growth: Students will reflect on their creative process, gaining confidence in their drawing and performance skills while learning how to visually communicate stories about the natural world.
