SDGs Challenges

17 Global Goals. 17 opportunities to take action. One generation learning that they can make a difference.

The SDG Challenges invite children to explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by stepping beyond the classroom and taking meaningful action in the real world.

Children don’t simply learn about poverty, climate change, equality, health or the environment. They are given the freedom to choose a challenge, take action, solve problems, work with others and reflect on the difference they have made.

Why Choose This Course?

Children learn differently when their learning has a purpose.

The SDG Challenges turn the 17 Sustainable Development Goals into meaningful, hands-on learning experiences where children can see that their ideas, choices and actions matter.

Each SDG introduces children to an important global issue before inviting them to choose from a range of practical challenges. These experiences can take learning into the classroom, the playground, the home and the wider community, allowing children to connect global issues with the world they actually live in.

But taking action is only part of the journey.

Through structured reflection, children consider what they did, how it made them feel, what they learnt about themselves and what they might do next. In doing so, an experience becomes something much more powerful: an opportunity to develop the skills, values and belief that they can positively influence the world around them.

Learning Goals

Understand the 17 Sustainable Development Goals:

Discover the challenges facing people and our planet, understand why each Global Goal matters and explore how these issues connect to everyday life.

Turn Learning Into Action:

Move beyond worksheets and theory by completing purposeful, hands-on challenges that allow children to make a genuine contribution to their school, community and world.

Develop Skills for the Future:

Build collaboration, creativity, communication, problem-solving, empathy, leadership, responsibility, curiosity and other important human capabilities through real experiences.

Choice, Agency & Independence:

Give children opportunities to choose how they respond to a challenge, develop their own ideas, make decisions and discover that their actions have consequences and value.

Reflect on Who They Are Becoming:

Use structured reflection to help children recognise the skills and values they demonstrated, understand themselves as learners and identify how they would approach their next challenge.

Share Their Impact With the World:

Capture and celebrate meaningful learning so children can see that education is not simply about what they know. It is also about what they can do with what they know.

Learning With Purpose

The SDG Challenges are built around a simple idea:

Children should not have to wait until they grow up to change the world.

When we give children meaningful problems to solve, the freedom to make choices and the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, we do more than teach them about the Sustainable Development Goals.

We help them discover the kind of person they are capable of becoming.
