Introduction
In this lesson, the students will be putting themselves in the shoes of a CEO of a major organisation and making a tough decision. They will be asked to think about the concept of empathy and how it can help guide their decision-making process.
The students will watch a video that explains the scenario and then work together in teams to come up with a decision. They will need to think about how their decision will affect everyone involved and consider different perspectives.
We expect to see the students demonstrating skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork. They will need to listen to each other’s ideas and opinions, respectfully share their own, and work together to come up with a decision that takes into account the needs and perspectives of all stakeholders.
Additionally, we expect the students to demonstrate empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, which is an important life skill that can help them become compassionate and responsible members of society.
This week, we want you to imagine that you are the John the farmer of a very big vegetable farm. Sometimes, people who help many people around them have to make very important decisions, but these decisions can affect many people around them. This week we have one of those decisions for you to think about.
We will be talking about the word “consideration” and how it can help us make the right decisions when things get hard. It’s important to think like an adult and try to see things from everyone’s point of view. Even though you have to make the final decision, you need to understand how it will affect everyone involved.
Watch the video provided to learn more about the scenario for this week, and work together as a team to come up with a decision. Then, present your ideas to the class for discussion and debate. Remember, it’s important to think about how your decision will impact everyone involved, and to use consideration to help guide your choices.

Reading Activity - The Scenario
